Flamenco Rosario
Since its inception, the Flamenco Rosario company has presented performances such as: the yearly Flamenco Festival; Raices (Roots), Flamenco Ayer y Hoy, Fantasia Flamenca, Noche Flamenca, Danzas de Espana and the ongoing Cuadro Flamenco series which promotes emerging artists.
With these presentations, the company aims to explore the many facets of flamenco, offering shows that are informative as well as entertaining. In "Raices" the pieces of the program trace the roots of flamenco, while in "Flamenco Ayer y Hoy" the focus was on the differences between traditional and contemporary flamenco dance and music. In it's most recent production, "Danzas de Espana" the company expanded it's repertoire to present regional and historical styles of Spanish dance.
Besides producing its own work, Flamenco Rosario has been invited to perform at many other events, including various productions by the Vancouver Opera and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Dancing on the Edge, The Vancouver Folk Festival, Dancers for Life, the Vancouver Sun Concert Series, and the Dawson City Music Festival.
For the past sixteen years, Flamenco Rosario has consistently delivered quality work and has cultivated an audience that is informed and knowledgeable. The company continues both to honor the rich flamenco tradition and to create flamenco presentations which further the evolution of the art form.
Recently, Flamenco Rosario received a grant from the Simons Foundation to create new flamenco works, to be presented over the next few years.
